Paintball Equipment Is Key To Keeping Game Safe

Paintball originated in 1981 as a game of “capture the flag” with a twist.  The twist came in the form of small professional “markers” that shot paint filled gel caps.  These “markers” were originally used by forestry workers and farmers; intended to shoot cattle and trees from a long distance away.  There was only one type of gun available and it could hold only 10 rounds at one time.  The gun wasn’t very powerful and had to be tilted to roll the paintball into the chamber.  Eye protection consisted of safety glasses as specifically designed eye protection had not yet been created.  The games were lengthy and generally focused more on the hunting and survival rather than the shooting of the opponent.  As the years and enthusiasts increase, improvements on paintball equipment and challenges followed.  Today, it is absolutely fundamental that proper safety guidelines and paintball equipment be used in order to keep the game safe and enjoyable.  While insurance statistics show paintball as being considered one of the safest sports to play, it only earns this recognition when players follow the specific safety guidelines.

Keeping It Safe Requires Protective the Eyes, Always Wear A Safety Mask

The most important paintball equipment is the facemask.  It is important to recognize and value the absolute importance of a specifically designed paintball facemask when playing a paintball game.   It is important to keep in mind that the paintball travels at a rate of over 270 mph and only specifically designed paintball masks are prepared to handle being hit with that type of force.  Sunglasses, ski goggles, and other protective eyewear are not intended to be struck with such an extreme force, they cannot provide the protection necessary for your eyes in such a game.

Paintball Safety Equipment Should Protect Your Ears From Paintball Impact

Ear protection is another requirement of paintball safety equipment.  In fact, next to protecting your eyes, the ears are a very close second.  When buying a paintball safety mask, make sure that the mask covers your ears completely and that it feels comfortable to the entire head.  You do not want a mask that you fidget with during your game, moving it could open a sensitive area up for injury.  You want to insure that while the safety mask provides adequate coverage that you also have the ability to hear what is going on around you.

Protecting The Entire Face Is A Good Rule Of Thumb When Buying A Face Mask

Another valuable piece of paintball safety equipment is the face shield.  Keeping in mind that the speed of a paintball is above 270 mph, protecting the entire face is critical.  Make sure to purchase a facemask that is large enough to cover your entire face yet flexible enough to allow you to breath and talk clearly.
