Paintball Enthusiasts Have Different Paintball Fields From Which To Choose

Paintball enthusiasts have two basic choices when planning a paintball excursion.  The first is the Commercial paintball field and the second is the “outlaw” paintball field.  These two paintball fields differ greatly and need to be compared prior to deciding how best either one fits the personal needs of the paintball participants.

The Commercial Paintball Field Is A Great Way To Try A Paintball Competition

The commercial paintball field is really the best way for a beginner to experience paintball and determine if this is a sport that they are interested in investing time and money into playing.  At a commercial paintball field, it is possible to rent all necessary equipment such as a marker (paintball gun), mask and eye protection, paintballs and air.  This equipment is fundamental to successfully and safely playing paintball and renting the equipment for the first time player is a great way to determine if this is a sport that is enjoyed or better left alone.  In addition, commercial fields are small, filled with many bunkers and forts in which to hide and evade the competition.  There are also referees to oversee game play and insure that everyone follows the rules and plays safely.  For someone that has never played paintball, the commercial paintball field is an excellent way to experience the game without a large financial commitment in equipment.

“Outlaw” Paintball Field Often Requires Teamwork To Conquer Opponent

“Outlaw” paintball fields are usually informal wooded areas where a group of friends and colleges gather to play paintball. There are many safety guidelines that should be followed whenever paintball is played, so be sure that the group is measuring the velocity of each marker with a “chronograph”, wearing the required safety regulated equipment and following general safety guidelines.  Paintball is an extremely fun and exciting game to play if everyone in the group recognizes and follows the standard safety guidelines.  These types of “outlaw” games are often called “woodsball” among paintball enthusiasts. In Woodsball, the terrain is often difficult, providing physical challenges such as trees, shrubs, valleys, hills, etc.  These external challenges increase the overall challenge of the game, making Woodsball a very popular field choice of many paintball enthusiasts.

An Urban Paintball Delight, Tourney Ball Provides Many Unique Challenges

A third type of paintball field is the Tourney ball field.  This small paintball field has air-filled bunkers that are set up in identical positions on two sides of one field.  The opponents are faced with mirror images of the competitive field, each team having their own side.  The tourney ball fields are generally found in urban areas and are a very popular alternative to Woodsball.  Tourney ball has two variations that are called “hyperball” or “speedball”, these are also found almost exclusively in urban areas.
