There is also the option of train travel, and although this method is certainly not the fastest, it is enjoyable and unique. From Emeryville, which is a 20 minute bus ride from San Francisco, then you take the Amtrak to Merced and then you board the Via bus Yosemite. There is also bus travel which is an option, and it is thought that, short of having a car, the bus is the best way to get from a major airport to Yosemite.
Take whichever type of transportation that is easier and more convenient for you, but just make sure that you are fully prepared for the difficulty of the rock climbs in Yosemite before you get there. This is because if you are not experienced enough then you are not going to have many hills that are appropriate for you to climb.
